Exercise Science is a standardized curriculum that assures schools comply with the state mandated 200 minutes of Physical Education for every 10 school days.

 

We utilized the Pilates Technique Mat Exercises to develop the program, added standard stretches and modified it for kids 4-12 so any school of any size with any amount of space can implement the program. Using a flash card teaching tool we build the body one block at a time. Each “Body Block” has a specific color and includes exercises and vocabulary that are relevant to the area in discussion. Our “Kinesthetic Learning” approach discusses the body, identifies the body and performs exercises specific to the body in discussion which fosters learning by doing. We administer the Presidents Youth Fitness Program assessments, BMI and skin fold twice a year and partner with the University of Kansas for data analysis.

 

Utilizing repeated reinforcement students increase their knowledge of health and have a deeper understanding of their bodies on a year to year basis. This methodology increases the challenge of the learned exercises and allows children to retain and grow at their own pace.
